Gainsborough’s contemporaries were some of Britain’s most famous artists, architects and craftsmen. It would be obvious to design a book using the typefaces of Caslon or Baskerville. This book takes an opposite approach; juxtaposing the richness of the paintings with simple asymmetric sans serif typography.
